List of My Little Pony characters

This is a list of characters from the long-running My Little Pony toy franchise.

The My Little Pony franchise first debuted in 1982, the creation of American illustrator and designer Bonnie Zacherle. Together with sculptor Charles Muenchinger and Manger Steve D'Aguanno, Bonnie submitted a design patent in August 1981 for "an ornamental design for a toy animal". She was then working for Hasbro. The patent was granted in August 1983.

Earth Ponies

The Earth ponies are ponies who have a special connection to nature and animals. They lack the ability to cast magic spells like the unicorn ponies, or the ability to stand on clouds like the pegasus ponies. Usually, they are the basic form of the My Little Pony Toys.

4-Speed is one of the Big Brother ponies, who returned to Dream Valley after a year-long race around the world at the beginning of Somnambula. He is an expert driver.

Ace is very athletic and confident and also Teddy's best friend, who is often his partner in trouble in influencing Lancer. He is the handsome jock of the school, and a dream date for many of the girls. He is also a very sporty pony who enjoys soccer and many other activities, being the captain of the school's soccer team with Patch. He has an unrequited crush on Melody and later, at Starlight.

Applejack's younger sister and a member of the Apple Pony Family, Apple Bloom's worries over being one of the last ponies in her class without a cutie mark makes her feel like an outcast until she meets two other "Blank Flanks" and befriends them. She has a thick Western American accent like Applejack, but it tends to fade when she talks to someone she does not like or wants to prove herself to. Together with Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, she formed the Cutie Mark Crusaders so they can find their place in the world. Apple Bloom knows martial arts and is skilled at design and carpentry, as shown by the speed with which she renovates Applejack's old treehouse for the Crusaders' use.

Applejack is a member of the Apple Pony Family, who speaks with a Western American accent (most similar to that from the Missouri Ozarks). In the first generation special, she is a silly pony, always knocking over fences and looking over her shoulder to see where she has been. She loves apples and is frequently found in the Apple Orchard. In her first appearance (Rescue from Midnight Castle), she was one of four ponies to be corrupted by Tirek's Rainbow of Darkness in order to pull his chariot. She was reverted back to normal after Tirek was destroyed. Applejack is the only character in the whole toy line to retain her appearance throughout generations (excluding Generation 3). She then appeared again in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, using her updated Generation 1 Appearance instead of the Generation 3 one. Applejack is very dependable and down-to-earth, but also stubborn and a bit selfish. She wears a brown cowboy hat and is the only one of the six main characters who keeps her mane and tail tied back, instead of letting them fall loose. Applejack comes from a large family of ponies with apple-related names, spread all over Equestria, who oversee apple orchards and run a group of businesses to sell apples and products made from them.^[1] Applejack has demonstrated her strength and dexterity on many occasions, and she is also very skilled with a lasso. Applejack's spirit is Honesty.

One of Twinkle Twirl's Students, Apple Spice owns an Apple Orchard at Butterfly Island. Usually she is the cause of some comedy relief in some Generation 3 specials, bumping into Bow Tie due to her clumsiness.

Baby Fifi is one of the first tooth ponies, in charge of taking care of the twins Baby Snookums and Sniffles and Baby Milkweed and Tumbleweed. Unlike her mother, who was a Unicorn, Baby Fifi is born as an Earth Pony and speaks with a French accent. Alongside the other baby ponies, she has one tooth and they were involved in a feud against Fudgey McSwain and Rocky Ripple.

Big Macintosh is the older brother of Applejack and Apple Bloom and a member of the Apple Pony Family, always seen wearing a hitching collar and chewing on a stalk of wheat. He has a rather calm and easy-going demeanor to contrast with his sister Applejack's more stubborn attitude. His appearance matches his demeanor: his eyes are generally half closed and he looks slightly bored, as though he's simply accepting what's happening around him. He resembles a Clydesdale horse, as do most of the male ponies, but is considerably larger than the others.

Bon Bon is one of Starlight's friends, who is extremely fond of food and cooking. She dreams of becoming a fashion model and loves to write in her diary, detailing every day's events. Her family is quite large, consisting of four younger siblings (Amber, Twink, Rusty, a 'baby brother' and an unknown sibling), one older sister (Misty), and her parents. In Friendship is Magic, there is a "background pony" that resembles her, but she has blue and purple mane and tail and three pieces of candy for her symbol.

Bow Tie currently holds the record on having the most variants of her ever created and released in each part of the world. She is described to be an earth pony in the special and is also involved during Scorpan's raid in Dream Valley. Bow Tie appeared again in the Generation 3 line as one of the Dazzle Bright Ponies and then in the second Generation 3 Special Dancing in the Clouds. She is one of Twinkle Twirl's students and loves to dance but always bumps into other ponies due to her clumsiness.

Braeburn is another member of the Apple Pony Family, who wears a brown cowboy hat and vest. He debuted in the 21st episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Braeburn is Applejack, Big McIntosh and Apple Bloom's cousin from Appleloosa and thinks highly of the area, insisting on showing the group around even as they try to tell him about a buffalo stampede that disrupted their journey here.

Bright Eyes is the smart-aleck of Starlight's group. She was first seen as a Twinkle Eyed Earth Pony in 1986, also featuring as part of the "7 Pony Friends" in 1992, both from the Generation 1 Line. An intelligent pony, Bright Eyes is quick to think things out logically when there's a problem. She loves to learn new things, and wishes to be an environmentalist when she grows up. She also has an infatuation with Lancer. Although her family never appears, it is mentioned that her father works for the paper.

Bubbles is a shy pony who loves to play in the muddy field and roll about covering herself in goo. But bath time is also a favorite time as she chases bubbles on the wind. In Rescue from Midnight Castle, she was one of four ponies to be corrupted by Tirek's Rainbow of Darkness in order to pull his chariot. She was reverted back to normal after Tirek was destroyed.

Bumblesweet is an earth pony who likes to make sweet things to eat, like fudge, jellybeans and rainbow colored taffy. She is also found of jump rope and likes to compete with Daisyjo.

Cheerilee is an Earth Pony, who's once a Unicorn in My Little Pony Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow. She acts as Rarity's teacher and adviser. Alongside Brights Brightly, Whistle Wishes and Rarity, they were in charge on bringing in the first rainbow of the season until Rarity disappeared. Due to this, she, Brights Brightly and Whistle Wishes venture outside Unicornia to search for her. In the Core 7 series, she is now an earth pony and wears pigtails in the animation and in some of the merchandise. She loved flowers and enjoyed telling amazing stories. She is Scootaloo's older sister. As a baby, she wears a green bow on her head. In Friendship is Magic, she is Apple Bloom's teacher; in this series, her body has a slightly more purple hue and her symbol is now three smiling daisies. She also speaks with a womanly voice which is older than her little girl voice. She is the teacher in Apple Bloom's school and cares about each of her pony students, and loves to help them learn and grow. She seems to take a special interest in the Cutie Mark Crusaders, focusing on discovering their true talents.

Cherries Jubilee is the keeper of the Paradise Estate's orchards. She has a mature attitude and is sometimes a bit strict to some ponies.

Cheval is Meadowlark's Husband and Clover's brother-in-law, who speaks with a French accent and is skilled in ballet. He also knows Clover's sister Meadowlark in the entertainment business and asked her hoof in marriage before the episode "Sister of the Bride". He and Meadowlark got married and now became not just Meadowlark's husband, but also Clover's brother-in-law.

Clover Bloom (also known as Clover) is the klutziest member of Starlight's group. Clover is tremendously clumsy and prone to breaking things, sometimes bursting into tears in dismay at her own ineptitude. Nevertheless, things generally work out for her in the end, as a result of either luck or the intervention of her friends. A very superstitious pony, she can be quite gullible. Her father is a conceptual artist who makes sculptures out of scrap metal and other discarded items. She dreams of being a ballerina, like her big sister.

Also one of Twinkle Twirl's Students, Coconut Cream is an earth pony likes to ride the roller coaster, even though it makes her feel sick. She also dances gracefully on stage, but sometimes she trips on her own feet.

Cotton Candy is a sweet-lover, who loves sweet things: sweet nectar from the flowers, sweet honey from the bees, and sweet grass from the valley. However, she is also a bit lazy and tries to find her treats a little too close to home. Blossom's flower garden is always a tempting place to grab a snack. In Rescue from Midnight Castle, she was one of four ponies to be corrupted by Tirek's Rainbow of Darkness in order to pull his chariot. She was reverted back to normal after Tirek was destroyed. Her daughter is Baby Cotton Candy. She was again re-released as part of the Generation 3 line, with a significantly altered appearance. Cotton Candy runs the Cotton Candy Cafe where she serves ice cream and sundaes to her friends. She is also a storyteller, enjoying conversation.

Cupcake is a talented cook and chef in the Paradise Estates. She is motherly and wise, and usually found in the kitchens baking delicious treats.

Daffidazey is Ponyville's hair stylist, who runs the Twist n' Style Petal Parlor. She values cleanliness highly and can't usually see well unless she uses her glasses. She also has good styling skills and even fixed up Spike, despite being dirty and all messed up.

One of Ponyville's excellent Gardeners along Wysteria, Daisyjo grows the prettiest flowers in Ponyville, in all shapes and colors. She also likes to play hide-and-seek with Sparkleworks.

Desert Rose is one of Twinkle Twirl's Students, who always has a pretty blossom to give her friends. She is also an expert gardener as well, as seen in My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade.

Diamond Tiara is a school student. She, like Silver Spoon, is a bully who calls ponies without cutie marks "blank flanks" and deems them not special. She has a snooty personality and enjoys belittling others.

Ember is the very first baby earth pony to be made and be available via mail order. She then appeared again in the first My Little Pony special "Rescue from Midnight Castle". In the special, she is the only earth pony to have no symbol of her own.

Fiesta Flair is an earth pony who was never actually produced as a toy. Many speculate that due to her Mexican accent, name and symbol there might have been backlash that caused Hasbro to rethink her development. In the special, she is actually part of Pinkie Pie's musical band, suggesting her to use her Pinkie Squink to solve their problem on playing together. She then later debuted in My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure as a background character.

Fizzy Pop likes having fun in the sun. But her favorite activity is at night- watching a fireworks display over the water. She then later debuted in Dancing in the Clouds and later in My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure as a background character.

Flitter Flutter is the Mayor of Ponyville and also the judge for the ornament making contest for the Winter Wishes Festival. She also entrusted Twinkle Wish to Cheerilee, but when she found out she was missing, Whimsey returned it in time for the festival making her and the citizens of Ponyville happy.

Gem Blossom is an earth pony and also one of the Jewel Ponies, released in 2004. Gem Blossom is described on making good jokes and riddles. She likes to put a smile on everyone's faces, though sometimes she laughs so hard when she tells a joke and she needs a friend to help her finish it.

Having a daredevil streak, Gingerbread is a talented baker and jumper. She is also very optimistic and always thinks positively on things.

Glitter Glide is an earth pony who is first released in 2004 as part of the Ice Dancing with Glitter Glide. She also appeared in My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade as a cameo character.

Golden Harvest (named Carrot Top by fans) is an earth pony who appeared in many episodes, and had minor speaking roles. She has a moss-green mane in Boast Busters, contrary to her usual orange mane in all other appearances. Her name is not mentioned on the show, but it appears on the pamphlet of a surprise bag toy released in late October 2011. Prior to this, an animator working on the show noted that, coincidentally, he had given the pony the same name as some of the fans, "Carrot Top".

Granny Smith is the Eldest member of the Apple Pony Family and currently the oldest earth pony to debut in the whole series. She is the elderly grandmother of Applejack, Big McIntosh, Apple Bloom and Braeburn. Due to her age, she always seems a bit disoriented and sometimes uses a walker to get around; Applejack mentions that she has a bad hip.

Half-Note is a member of Melody's band The Rockin' Beats. She first debuted in 1991 as one of the Rockin' Beat Ponies and later appeared in animation on My Little Pony Tales. She serves as the guitarist of the group.

Heart Bright is one of the two protagonist of Storybelle's story Two for the Sky. She alongside Star Flight both think alike like twins: playing together, eating sundaes together and wished that they can gain wings so they can fly to the sky. Strangely, she is listed as a Pegasus Pony in her toy incarnation.

Hoity-Toity is a major representative of the fashion world from Canterlot, and arrived in Ponyville to see Rarity's fashion show. He was impressed by the first set of her dresses, which she had set aside when her friends seemed dissatisfied with them, and decided to feature them at his boutique in Canterlot. He bears visual similarity to fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who carries a paper fan.

His manager Zeb works for Arabus, a creature that looks like a storm cloud, who gives Knight Shade orders to steal shadows that he uses for energy. Knight Shade recounts how Zeb acquires the shadows and keeps them in his satchel, as well as anecdotes from life as a struggling singer on his hometown of Bright Valley. Arabus promised him fame but for a price—the theft of everyone's shadows, including his own mother's. Knight Shade tried to back out of the deal, but was forced to stay with Arabus for fear that his shadow would be taken too; something which would mean the end of his career and no chance of restoring his home. The ponies helped him to redeem himself and expose Zeb and Arabus's evil doings, and get everyone's shadows back.

Pipsqueak (also known as Pip) is a young earth pony foal who recently moved to Ponyville from Trottingham. He first appeared trick-or-treating with a group of fillies, at Twilight's Library, wearing a pirate costume, and he replies with it being his first ever. When talking to Twilight, he uses a British accent, but drops it later in the episode. He joins a group of fillies chaperoned by Pinkie Pie, which follows Zecora while she tells the story of Night Mare Moon. When Princess Luna appears, he gets scared and dumps his candy in front of Night Mare Moon's statue along with the rest of the group and they all run off. The other time he is shown is when Princess Luna saves him when he falls into Applejack's water apple barrel. He is startled when Pinkie Pie said she'll eat him and eventually runs off again. Later, he witnesses Princess Luna trying to scare the ponies and says that she is his favorite princess. As his name suggests, Pipsqueak is smaller than the other ponies. His coat has patches of color on it, unlike most ponies in the show who have a solid-color coat. A light coat with dark patches is characteristic of pinto horses.

In "Twinkle Wish Adventure", it is revealed that she is afraid of the dark and, thus, would not sleep at night without a nightlight.

Twist is one of Apple Bloom's supportive friends, who first debuted in 1986 as one of the So-Soft Ponies of the Generation 1 Line, being a unicorn in that era. She then debuted again in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, this time as a school age earth pony, also receiving a major design change. She is one of Apple Bloom's friends and is described to have a nerdy personality but is very generous and supportive. She also shows several stereotypically nerdy traits, such as a curly red mane and tail, pale coat, large, large glasses, and a nasal speech impediment (she has a hard time pronouncing W's and S's).

Pegasus Ponies

Pegasus ponies all possess wings, and demonstrate great speed both in the air and on foot, although some are described to be graceful. They are also seen manipulating the weather in several occasions such as moving clouds to either cause a storm or clear the skies. They are also known to live in a city of clouds, known as Cloudsdale.

Derpy Hooves is a gray pegasus pony who became famous among the show's internet following due to having a googly-eyed, or "derpy" expression in the first episode. Starting with Feeling Pinkie Keen, the show's crew began giving the pony crossed eyes intentionally to give her a "derpy" expression, as a nod to the fans. The name Derpy has since been adopted for the character by the crew. Derpy Hooves gained a scripted-character status rather than an arbitrary background pony in season 2, and she is considered a "Where's Waldo"-type challenge for the fans.

Fluttershy is a shy Pegasus Pony who was originally an earth pony. She was first released in 2003 as part of the Rainbow Celebration Ponies. In the G3 series, she loves to take pictures of her friends and have fun and has a habit on window shopping at all the sweet boutiques in Ponyville. In Friendship is Magic, she received a design change, making her into a pegasus pony. She is sweet and calm, but is timid and often very shy around others, though she can become forceful and assertive when pushed too far. Fluttershy has a great love and care for animals and is willing to help them at any cost.^[1]Although she is a pegasus, she prefers to stay close to the ground, living in a cottage near the forest instead of the sky city of Cloudsdale with the other pegasi. She possesses a special ability known as "The Stare," which allows her to intimidate even the fiercest animals. In 'Suited for Success', Fluttershy was shown to have good knowledge of sewing and fashion just like Rarity. According to the Cutie Mark Chronicles, she has been saved by a group of colorful butterflies allowing her to fly for the first time. Rainbow Dash's Sonic Rainboom scares the animals Fluttershy has befriended and causes her to earn her cutie mark. Fluttershy's spirit is Kindness.

Rainbow Dash is a Tomboy pegasus pony who first debuted in 2003, as an Earth Pony. In Generarion 3, She is described to be a stylish pony who likes rainbows and speaks with a Mid-Atlantic-style accent. She always adds the word "darling" into her speech. She also has been released many times in the new uniform pose as part of the Core 7. In the Core 7 series, she has curly hair, and her mane was bound in a bun. She is also described to be stylish and always dresses in style. Sometimes a shopaholic, she always adds the word "Dashing" into her speeches. In the new and current series, her voice sounds a little more tomboyish and her rainbow symbol in the same series changes shape from an arc to a lightning bolt shooting out of a cloud with another subtracted. She is very brave and bold,^[1] but also mischievous and proud, as well as sometimes being insensitive. She has great speed and works with the other pegasus ponies to move clouds around the sky and adjust the weather. Her lifelong dream is to join the Wonderbolts, Equestria's aerobatic flight team. Rainbow Dash's signature move is the Sonic Rainboom, in which she flies fast enough to break the sound barrier, creating a sonic boom and a rainbow-hued shock wave at the same time. It is revealed that when she did this move for the first time, she earned her cutie mark and set in motion a chain of events that allowed the other five main characters to earn theirs as well. Rainbow Dash's spirit is Loyalty.

In Friendship is Magic, she is a young pegasus pony and is one of Apple Bloom's friends, who formed the group named the "Cutie Mark Crusaders". She is a bit of a tomboy, and is bold and impulsive, not afraid to speak her mind and argue or fight if necessary. Although she cannot fly, she can use her tiny wings to give her extra propulsion when riding a scooter and help her perform amazing stunts. She has a talent for activities that require agility, such as stunt driving, dancing, and choreography. She idolizes Rainbow Dash due to her coolness.

Unicorn Ponies

Unicorn Ponies, as the name suggests, are ponies who have a long horn protruding from their forehead, which glows when their magical powers are used. Generally, unicorns are not as strong as earth ponies. Despite being associated with their magic, a unicorn's horn is strong and sharp enough to have mundane uses.

Brights Brightly is one of Cheerilee's friends, who alongside Whistle Wishes and Rarity, in charge on bringing in the first rainbow of the season until Rarity disappeared.

In the morning, the ponies looked outside their windows and were delighted to see buttons glittering in fluffy clouds and twinkling in trees. Buttons wove buttons in their hair to finish her unusual decorations. She is also Telekinetic with her magic and is sometimes bossy. Her daughter is Baby Buttons, who like her mother is also telekinetic.

Vinyl Scratch (known officially as DJ P0n-3) is a background character in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, who appeared as a DJ at Rarity's fashion show in the episode "Suited For Success." Fans gave her the name DJ P0n-3 due to her talent; this name was later mentioned in The Hub's "Equestria Girls" ad. The name itself could be a reference to Deadmau5.

Heartstrings (also named Lyra by fans) is a Background pony who appeared in some episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic as one of the running gags of the show. Heartstrings is seen on the show doing background gags, such as bouncing on clouds, jumping around excitedly, drinking from a cup, or slouching on a park bench. She is frequently seen next to another background pony named "Bon Bon". The pairing has been explained by a layout artist to be mostly coincidental and based on aesthetic considerations, as far as season one is concerned.^[4] The two are depicted talking in crowd scenes, enjoying a snack, or watching Applejack and Rainbow Dash during the Iron Pony Competition. In Lesson Zero, at one point in the background she physically fights one-on-one against Bon Bon for the possession of Smarty Pants. Her name is not mentioned on-screen, until it first appeared in the accompanying pamphlet of a surprise bag toy released in early November 2011.

Moondancer is a Unicorn Pony who debuted in 1983 as part of the Second wave of the Generation 1 Toyline. Moondancer then made her brief appearance in the first My Little Pony Special Rescue From Midnight Castle. Moondancer is one of the four kidnapped ponies in Dream Valley during Scorpan's raid. Out of the four, she is the only Unicorn Pony that was corrupted by Tirek's Rainbow of Darkness in order to pull his chariot. She was reverted back to normal after Tirek was destroyed. She has a daughter named Baby Moondancer, who is very shy. She got kidnapped by Catrina along with the Rainbow of Light to be used as a ransom to force the Bushwoolies to go back to her. Moondancer then later appeared in the Generation 3 toyline, with her appearance becoming an Earth Pony rather than a Unicorn. She is one of Twinkle Twirl's students who love to dance. According to Lauren Faust, Moondancer is meant to be a main character for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. However, due to the loss of almost all of the Generation 1 Names, she is then revamped and remade into Twilight Sparkle. She was only mentioned during the first episode of the series as a tribute.

Prince Blueblood is a unicorn pony and Rarity's love affection. Rarity explained in her dream that they swiftly fall in love and marry. Prince Blueblood appears outwardly the same in The Best Night Ever, where Rarity expects him to court her as he did in her dream, but he is too self-centered. Rarity expects Prince Blueblood to give her a rose, but he takes it for himself; he brings a cushion only for himself to sit in the castle's yard, leaving Rarity without a comfortable seat; she expects Blueblood to throw his coat over a puddle so her shoes won't get dirty, but he coerces to throw her shawl; he expects her to pay for his dining; and he generally ignores her wants, and patronizes "common ponies". He even goes as far as using Rarity as a pony shield from getting cake all over his clothes. Prince Blueblood's title was initially supposed to be 'Duke', and that he's the "great great great great great great great great great great great (and probably even more greats) nephew on Celestia's and Luna's mother's side, about 52 times removed, roughly speaking." Later, Amy Keating Rogers confirmed that Prince Blueblood is not Celestia's nephew.

Rarity is a young unicorn in charge of one of the magic wand alongside Brights Brightly, Cheerilee and Whistle Wishes. Her wand allows her to control the colors to bring in the first rainbow of the season and lets her summon the Crystal Carriage. In Friendship is Magic, Rarity became an older unicorn in the series. She is very stylish and beautiful, takes great interest in fashion and clothing design, and often tries to make herself the center of attention. She considers herself a lady and often acts sophisticated. She can also be very dramatic, often when a disaster occurs to her.^[1] She is Sweetie Belle's older sister and dreams of becoming a designer for Princess Celestia. She also once hoped to marry Celestia's nephew Prince Blueblood, until he she actually met him, where he turned out to be snobbish, rude, and self-centred. Rarity's magic has been demonstrated to involve both telekinesis and finding nearby jewels buried underground. Rarity's Spirit is Generosity.

In Boast Busters, his first appearance, he displayed an infatuation with Trixie, a braggart magician.

Sweetie Belle is a Unicorn Pony and a member of the Core 7 ponies. Usually the youngest of the group, she hails from Unicornia, before being teleported to Ponyville when she was a baby. She has a big heart and likes to bake sweets for her friends. She also can demonstrate magic, however, this was only shown in "Once Upon a My Little Pony Time", where she used it to fix Rainbow Dash's scarf. In Friendship is Magic, she is a young unicorn pony and also Rarity's younger sister. She is also one of Apple Bloom's friends, and a member of the "Cutie Mark Crusaders". Sweetie Belle tends to be a slower thinker than Apple Bloom and Scootaloo, but is as excitable as they are and will readily follow their lead. Though she wants to be a designer like Rarity, her inexperience and clumsiness prove to be a hindrance when she tries to assist in the shop. She has a talent for singing and songwriting, turning one of Fluttershy's lullabies into a rousing gospel number, but prefers not to sing in public.

Trixie (who refers to herself in third person as "The Great and Powerful Trixie") is a unicorn pony and a traveling magician. She visits Ponyville with her show, in which she greatly exaggerates her magical abilities through the use of fireworks and stage effects, and claims to have defeated an Ursa Major. Shortly thereafter, Trixie is unable to defeat an Ursa Minor, the infant offspring of the Ursa Major, when it attacks Ponyville after being startled out of its nap. After Twilight calms it down, Trixie admits her deception and flees from Ponyville.

She decides to stay in Ponyville and study friendship with her mentor's blessings. Twilight studies extensively and takes an organized, analytical approach to solving problems. She also sometimes appears to have an insecure side in some of the episodes when it comes to fitting in.^[1]Unlike other unicorn ponies, Twilight can perform a wide variety of magic, including teleportation on occasions. Twilight Sparkle's spirit is Magic.

She and her companions are first viewed as a glowing cloud of stardust. Starlight and her friends think they were UFOs until Patch and Bon Bon met them up close.

Princess Celestia is one of the two rulers of Equestria and the elder sister of Princess Luna. She created Equestria with her sister Luna and controls the sun. One thousand years before the start of the series, she sealed her sister, who transformed herself into Nightmare Moon in the moon with The Elements of Harmony. She is Twilight Sparkle's teacher and gave her the task to "make friends" in Ponyville upon learning of Nightmare Moon's return. However, after her sister is restored to her true form, she forgives her and allows Twilight Sparkle to remain in Ponyville with a new task of "studying the magic of friendship". She almost always refers to Twilight Sparkle as "My Faithful Student". She often does not directly state her goals, but rather gives the advice to help her students find the answers they need. Though viewed with great reverence and awe due to her position, she often encourages her subjects to relax with jokes and gentle questions. She also shows great patience with any inappropriate behavior towards her. While always regal in both appearance and manner, Princess Celestia has been known to display a fun-loving side, appreciating the humor in a bottle of disappearing ink sent to her by Twilight. At times, she will even disregard the strict standards of high-class society when they become too much of a burden for her. However, it has been shown that while kindhearted and slow to anger, Celestia's patience does have its limits. Additionally, in when Spike made her aware that Twilight inadvertently unleashes mass chaos onto Ponyville in her obsessive attempts to find an overdue Friendship report to send to the Princess, Celestia personally intervenes to undo the damage caused by Twilight and sternly orders her student to a private meeting to discuss her actions; one of the few instances thus far where she was genuinely angry, albeit justifiably given the chaos Twilight caused. Fortunately, even in anger Celestia remains understanding, and at the insistence of Twilight's friends agrees not to punish Twilight, instead asking them all to send her friendship reports only when the lessons make themselves apparent to them. Princess Celestia's possesses magic far beyond normal unicorn ponies. She is able to control the sun and the daytime sky, bringing them out each day and then moving them away to make room for the night. She also has the ability to dispel magic. Princess Celestia was originally supposed to be Queen Celestia, as is logical considering her position, but Hasbro requested the name be changed as Disney has caused princesses to be associated with good and queens associated with evil. Princess Celestia is the highest authority, with no king or queen who outranks her.

Princess Luna is the younger sister of Celestia. Originally she raised/lowered the moon each night, but she became jealous of Celestia because the ponies slept through the night and thus could not appreciate her work. This jealousy eventually transformed Luna into the shadowy Nightmare Moon. In her new form, her body is black in blue armor with her mane and tail appearing to be made entirely out of sparkly indigo, purple-rimmed moondust that she can use as limbs. Celestia was forced to seal her in the moon after she attempted to bring eternal night to the world. During the pilot episode, she breaks free after a thousand years and returns to Equestria on the longest day of the year, intent on carrying out her plan again. She uses her powers to hinder Twilight Sparkle and the other ponies in their search for the Elements of Harmony. In season 2, she undergo a design change, with her mane changed from opaque to translucent, and she became slightly taller and more slender. Eventually, she is returned to her original form with the Elements and resumes her place at Celestia's side. Luna returns to Ponyville during Nightmare Night, Equestria's version of Halloween, with a taller and more slender build, a darker coat, and a translucent mane and tail. With Twilight's help, she tries to change her public image from that of the terrifying Nightmare Moon (on which the holiday is based) to a more favorable one as Princess. Her first attempts end disastrously, prompting her to decree Nightmare Night canceled, but Twilight persuades her to give Ponyville another chance. When Luna discovers that the residents enjoy being scared as part of the night's festivities, she uses the Nightmare Moon persona to help them have fun and thus gains their trust and friendship. Luna is shown to be extremely royal and formal towards her subjects, being quick to anger and easily offended. This off-putting facade of authority, however, is revealed to be a product of her thousand-year-old customs and ideas of propriety rather than intentional rudeness, and is shown to belie her fundamentally sensitive, caring, fun-loving nature. The results of Luna's thousand-year imprisonment in the moon and her subsequent unfamiliarity with more modern customs show themselves quite strongly in the fourth episode of season 2. She is able to control the moon and the night sky, bringing them out each night and then moving them away to make room for the dawn. As seen in Luna Eclipsed, she can bring inanimate objects back to life using her magic and also can also shape-shift at will, noticeably assuming the form of Night Mare Moon. As Night Mare Moon, she is able to take on the form of objects and other characters.

Dragons

As of Generation 4, there are two dragon characters who debuted in the whole franchise. Spike, however, is the most notable.

Spike is a male baby dragon with green and pink scales who is adopted by Megan and the ponies after they defeated Tirek. He's the only character to appear throughout the whole Generation 1 series, from the original episode to The Prince and the Ponies. In the G3 Specials, he is shown to be knowledgeable on things and gives the ponies some advice. In Friendship is Magic, he's been redesigned again, now closely resembling his Generation 1 counterpart except for the purple skin and lime green scales. Spike also handles communications between Twilight and Princess Celestia, burning Twilight's written messages with his fire breath to send them and then coughing up the scrolls Celestia sends back. He frequently displays a sarcastic streak and laughs at others' misfortune, but can be counted on to help Twilight and her friends when they need him. He also eats gemstones and it is shown that he has a major crush on Rarity. In season 2 (Secret of my Excess) he admits his crush to her which she accepts.

Whimsey Weatherbe is a Female Winged Dragon, described to live in Willy Nelly Mountain at the outskirts of Ponyville. She speaks with a New Jersey accent and likes to have friends. Whimsey's abilities are shown to manipulate the weather using her dragon breath, which explains the changing weather in Willy Nelly Mountain. She "Kidnaps" Twinkle Wish, the wishing star in Ponyville after Scootaloo accidentally opens its box, leading to the ponies to go to Willy Nelly Mountain to retrieve it from her. After the ponies failed to convince her, she decides to give it back with a changed heart at the night of the Winter Wishes Festival. She is one of the Generation 3 characters without a toy appearance alongside Storybelle.

Other Pony Races

Flutter Ponies

Flutter Ponies are ponies with tiny bodies, curly hair, longer legs than regular ponies and fairy-like wings. The Flutter Ponies may appear delicate, but in truth, they possess a powerful ability called the Utter Flutter, which allows them to blow away everything in their path by flapping their wings in a rapid speed. They are rarely seen, preferring to live in seclusion, usually in Flutter Valley. Honeysuckle, Morning Glory and Rosedust were the only notable ones in the first My Little Pony series.

Morning Glory is a sweet and naive Flutter Pony, who helped Sting to fly as well to get Megan in the Human World by flying through the Rainbow. Morning Glory reappeared in the Second Generation of the My Little Pony Toyline released in 1997. In the second generation, Morning Glory is the imaginative one. She thinks up special ways to brighten the day, like picking bouquets of flowers and wrapping them in magical rainbows. She again got released in the Generation 3 toyline as one of the Cutie Cascade Ponies.

Rosedust first appeared in 1986 during the fourth year of the Generation 1 Toyline. Rosedust is the Queen and leader of the Flutter Ponies, who always speaks with an odd British accent. She usually wears a dark pink feather on her head. She was in charge of protecting the Sunstone, a giant magical jewel that allows Flutter Valley to flourish.

Seaponies/Baby Seaponies

The Seaponies are brightly colored seahorse-like creatures who dwell in the rivers and lakes of Dream Valley. They love underwater polo and can perform elaborate songs and dance numbers. They only appeared in the two Generation 1 Specials and they are based on the Hippocamp, a mythological creature shared by Phoenician and Greek mythology. A sub-line of the Seaponies called Baby Seaponies debuted later in 1985 and later in My Little Pony: The Movie.

Gummy is Pinkie Pie's pet Alligator. Gummy appears to be usually calm, showing little interest to whatever happens around him. However, he also has a tendency to try biting various things and to hide in the water. When he's first introduced in Feeling Pinkie Keen, he shows rather aggressive behavior for a pet, because after Pinkie sets him on the floor, he proceeds to try to bite the pink Earth Pony repeatedly; as he has no teeth, this does no damage and Pinkie doesn't even seem to notice. The episode Party of One shows that his behavior is usually more peaceful, although he still tends to bite whatever happens to be near him. Most of the time, Gummy is docile to the point of absurdity, and in direct contrast with Pinkie Pie's crazed antics; he shows little to no awareness of his surroundings, often just sitting and staring into space with the same unchanging expression on his face at all times. No matter what is happening, Gummy usually just sits in place and stares at nothing, although he will occasionally attempt to bite nearby objects or even ponies. He's also able to "dance" to the music with his tail to be the only part of his body actually moving. He also seems to favor a ball of wool as his favorite toy, happily pushing it along with his nose or riding it as it rolls along. Pinkie seems convinced that Gummy is much more complex and lively than he appears to be. At the end of Party of One, for example, she said that Gummy was "pretty upset" about his party being unattended, despite the fact that Gummy had shown no change in his behavior or mood whatsoever.

Sting is one of Bumble's royal servants who resides in Bumbleland, which resides somewhere in Flutter Valley. Despite being a loyal bee to Bumble, Sting sided with the ponies after he felt betrayed by his own kind due to them leaving Bumbleland. After he captured Morning Glory and placed in a cage, she tries to explain the situation with the Sunstone and Flutter Valley to him, but he doesn't care. But when Morning Glory asks Sting if he would rather be flying and playing instead of working for Bumble, he starts to cry. He admits that he can't fly and that he never learned because he was never good at it. Morning Glory encourages him to try again, and when he learns, he becomes friends with her. But he still keeps her in the cage. Later on, she frees her and both of them go to the Human World to get help from Megan. After the ponies reclaimed the Sunstone, Sting himself stopped Bumble and the others from reclaiming it, saying that if Bumble leaves the Flutter Ponies alone, she can come to Flutter Valley and take flowers anytime. She agrees, and Sting returns to Bumbleland with her and the other bees.

The ponies in Ponyville had never seen a unique creature as her, and so they would lock up their doors whenever she comes to visit. Although she was first thought to be an evil enchantress who could inflict curses, she is revealed to be very friendly and an expert herbalist. She is known for always talking in rhyme and speaks with an African accent.

Arabus is a malevolent Cloud Demon whose intention is to devour everyone's shadows to give him strength. He met Knight Shade in the village grayvale one day, and promised he will boost his career and make him a star. Arabus indeed drew almost the entire village to Knight Shade's next concert, stealing all their shadows, including that of Knight Shade's mother, and used them to turn himself into a powerful cloud of magic. Since then, Knight Shade has toured to increasing success, stealing ever more shadows for Arabus, hoping to keep his own shadow long enough to figure out a way to stop Arabus. While hunting for shadows, Arabus calls to Megan to come out of hiding, and she steps up, announcing that she has a surprise for him. A vast army of Flutter Ponies, brought by Molly and Lofty, fills the skies, circling Arabus and blasting him with their Utter Flutter. Unable to withstand the onslaught, Arabus grows smaller and smaller, and the shadows he contains fly out, seeking their original owners, both he and Zeb were place in prison.

She was defeated by Rex and later redeemed herself of her bad ways by destroying the machine that produces the Witchweed Potion.

The Diamond Dogs are a gang of greedy jewel-finding dogs who want the jewels for themselves. They kidnapped Rarity and force her to find gems for them after they see her using magic to find gems. They tell Rarity they hunt for gems, and take her into their extensive system of underground mines, where some of them serve as guards and attack dogs while others find gems. But in the end, Rarity had them had even until her friends arrived to rescue her with spoils. The three main Diamond Dogs wear jackets and diamond-studded collars, while the guards wear armor and carry lances. They alternate between walking on their hind legs and all fours, their elongated forelegs giving them a gorilla-like appearance. Their name is taken from David Bowie's album Diamond Dogs.

Discord is the primary antagonist of Season 2's first 2 episodes "Return of Harmony". According to Princess Celestia, Discord is the ancient spirit of chaos who, before the reign of the sister goddesses, ruled the land of Equestria, making unicorns', pegasus', and earth ponies' lives miserable. He is referred to by one of the characters as a "Draconequus," and has the appearance of a chimera; as far as can be discerned, he has the body and left foreleg of a gryphon, a lion's arm and paw for his right arm, the head of a pony with an oversized tooth and billy goat beard, a mismatched pair of antlers, asymmetrical eyes, the neck of a mule, a pair of wings (one bat, one pegasus), the left hind leg of a pony, the right hind leg of a dragon, and the tail of a snake. His personality is likewise chaotic as his body, desiring nothing more than to cause chaos for his own amusement, treating his confrontation with the heroes as if it were a game. This hides a far more malicious and sadistic aspect of his personality, shown by the outright glee he took in tormenting the group while they were playing his "game". He also gets enraged when his psychological manipulations fail to work, causing him to briefly drop his more playful aspects and simply hypnotize Fluttershy in a fit of rage when she proved too accepting of her faults to succumb to it. The most defining trait of Discord is his skill at manipulating the emotions and thoughts of his enemies. He's even depicted controlling ponies with puppeteer strings in one of the stain glass pictures in the royal palace. In a battle over 1000 years ago, before Princess Luna had transformed into Nightmare Moon and was banished to the moon, the sisters wielded the Elements of Harmony and encased Discord in stone, leaving him as a statue of himself. This statue would be put on display in the gardens around the royal palace, until the inharmonious aura caused by the quarrels of the Cutie Mark Crusaders gave him enough strength to break free of his prison. The spell binding him inside the stone had broken when Princesses Celestia and Luna forfeit their control over the Elements of Harmony. He managed to steal the Elements of Harmony from a special vault in the royal palace, challenging the Bearers of the Elements to find them in the hedge maze in the castle garden. He robs the Bearers of their flight and magical capabilities by removing Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy's wings, and Twilight Sparkle's and Rarity's horns, citing the first rule of his "game" as prohibiting their use. The second rule of his game is that all of the Bearers must participate, or else the game is over with him as the victor by default.^[7] The ponies proceed into the maze, only to be split up from each other at the start and independently confronted by Discord, who twists their thoughts by exploiting their personal insecurities, as well as using hypnosis, in order to coerce them into abandoning the qualities that make them Bearers of the Elements. As a result, Applejack becomes a compulsive liar, Pinkie Pie becomes hateful of laughter and joy, Rarity becomes avaricious, Fluttershy becomes cruel and insensitive, and Rainbow Dash abandons her loyalty to her friends and to Equestria when she accepts Discord's dubious offer to take back her wings and leave the maze, after being tricked into believing her home city of Cloudsdale is collapsing without her intervention. At this point, Discord's gambit has proven successful in thwarting the ponies' efforts in completing his game, with the added effect of pitting them against one another, rendering the Elements of Harmony useless. However, despite his efforts, Twilight manages to revert back all of her friend's true elements and face Discord using the Elements of Harmony, eventually defeating him by sealing him back to his original stone form, albiet this time with a look of horror frozen on his face.

At a party, Gilda inadvertently falls victim to several pranks set up by Rainbow Dash and loses her composure, prompting Rainbow Dash to break off their friendship.

He then returned to Ponyland 500 years later, capturing all the Unicorn Ponies one by one and plans to capture everyone in Dream Valley to be banished to the Shadow World. He has a cold and antagonistic personality, always scolding Bray for his mistakes and sometimes abuses the Troggles so they can follow his orders and do what he wants. Grogar's powers comes from the bells on his neck, and he has superior magic skills even far beyond any Unicorn Pony ever existed. Grogar was defeated again by Megan after she rang the ancient bell for the second time, banishing him and the whole city back to the Shadow World.

She and her daughters were defeated twice by Megan and the Ponies.

She usually has a cold personalty and hated the Flutter Ponies for dumping her and her people in the freezing land and decided to work with Hydia to steal the Sunstone and use it's power to direct the sun to allow plants and flowers to grow in Bumbleland, also slowly destroying Flutter Valley in the process. But she didn't knew that the Sunston can destroy her land due to too much heat, causing a fire that would burn everything in its path. In the end, she and the bees tried to reclaim the Sunstone from the Flutter Ponies, but Sting tries to stop Bumble. Rosedust intervenes and offers that if Bumble leaves the Flutter Ponies alone, she can come to Flutter Valley and take flowers anytime. She agrees, and Sting returns to Bumbleland with her and the other bees.

Porcina is a pig princess that uses magic. She needs material to replace her magic cloak, which is all but worn out - she uses its magic to turn things into glass, as she's obsessed with her own reflection. The Raptorians work for her with the promise that they'll soon receive their own kingdom. Porcina deems the washing to be useless and tells the Raptorians to find something better. They capture Gusty, Heart Throb, and Lickety-Split in hope to use their hair to make her cloak. Porcina receives her new cloak, and happily turns the Paradise Estate and every other non-living thing in Ponyland to glass, much to the Little Ponies' horror. The chief Raptorian praises her efforts, but suggests that it might be even better if every creature in Ponyland also bore her reflection. She agrees, and casts a second spell, turning every Little Pony in the Paradise Estate to glass. Shady, Molly, Megan, North Star, Paradise, Magic Star, and the Bushwoolies made a fake cloak in hopes of pulling off a switch with the real one only for the Raptorians to catch onto them. Porcina starts the spell to turn the Ponies into glass, but confronting them face to face makes her realize she has no right. The chief Raptorian snatches her cloak and tries the spell himself, but finds he's holding the fake. A tug-of-war ensues over the real cloak, and it tears in half, releasing a bolt of energy that hits the Raptorians and turns them all into glass. Regretting her selfish actions, Porcina uses the remains of the cloak to restore the Little Ponies and everything else in Ponyland. The Bushwoolies destroy the cloak, then offer to take Porcina on as their groomer, and she agrees.

It was shown the reason why he helps Tirek kidnap ponies was because Tirek threatens to harm Spike if he didn't. During the finale of the special, he was turned back into his human form.

Somnambula is a witch who's powers are stronger when she is younger. She has a canary named Kyrie whom she holds prisoner. She makes Kyrie sing to attract the ponies in a trance. She takes away the youth of the earth and pegasus ponies to make her younger and the youth of the unicorn ponies to make her powers stronger and stores them in a crystal. She also created illusions of the Big Brother Ponies' fantasies to keep them distracted. Kyrie aids the Baby Ponies and Spike in rescuing the other ponies. Seeing Buttons in agony, Slugger destroys the crystal causing Somnambula to rapidly age back to an old woman. The circus disappears and the ponies regain their youth.

Tirek is a demon (mainly a Baphomet) with elements of a centaur. He resides in the forbidden Midnight Castle alongside his minions and his loyal servant Scorpan, who he orders to kidnap the ponies of Dream Valley to execute his evil scheme. Tirek wields the Rainbow of Darkness, a powerful sack containing evil magic which corrupts everything it touches.It can even turn the ponies he captured into evil dragons which were used to pull his "Chariot of Darkness" and execute the event called the "Night that Never Ends", on which he will use the Rainbow of Darkness to corrupt Dream Valley and plunge it into chaos. When Tirek takes off in his Chariot of Darkness, Megan grabs the satchel containing the rainbow of darkness, but can't hold on to it. As he was about to release the Rainbow of Darkness, Megan opens the locket to reveal the Rainbow of Light, but it's only a small piece that is soon enveloped in darkness. However, the Rainbow of Light starts fighting back, and eventually overpowers the Rainbow of Darkness. Tirek was defeated after being vaporised by the fully powered Rainbow of Light, which then proceeded to breaking the curse on Scorpan and the corrupted ponies, turning him back into their original forms.

Zeb is a Greedy Manager of Knight Shade, who is working with Arabus, he employs giant rats to do his dirty work. He usually collect shadows using a strange machine and collects them in his satchel. The Flutter Ponies help the Little Ponies by getting Arabus to chase them, overexerting himself until he used up all his energy. As Zeb tries to recapture the shadows, an army of Greyvaleans surrounds him, placing him in shackles.

Locations

Ponyland: Ponyland is the main setting of the animated series My Little Pony. Ponyland is a mystical land, home to all kinds of magical creatures and Magical Ponies, who live in a part of Ponyland known as Dream Valley. The Little Ponies make their home in Paradise Estates, a mansion located in Dream Valley where they live a peaceful life filled with song and games. Other Parts of Ponyland include Bright Valley, the Midnight Castle and lastly, the Heart of Ponyland. Megan, Danny and Molly were the only humans who can reach Ponyland by crossing over the Rainbow and with a Pegasus Pony's help.

Coltonville: Coltonville is the main setting of the animated series My Little Pony Tales. Unlike Dream Valley, Coltonville is home to many Earth Ponies where everyone lived essentially as like human beings: Attending school, frequenting an ice cream shop, going on dates, entering talent contests and even roller-skating. Coltonville is much more of a town rather than Dream Valley, which is more of grazing grounds. The town is located somewhere in Ponyland, as it shown in the episode "Up, Up and Away" that the west side of the town is surrounded by a vast sea.

Ponyville: Ponyville is the setting for the Generation 3 My Little Pony Specials. Ponyville is described to be a busy pinktown where ponies love to play, eat, hang out and make friends. Many of Ponyville's main attractions were the Cotton Candy Cafe, both run by Cotton Candy and Sweetberry and the Celebration Castle, where important events were held. In My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Ponyville has been redesigned as a village instead of a town and had an incredible change unlike its previous generation. It is also the main setting of the series, and home to the main cast. It appears to be a very friendly community, and most Ponyville residents seem to know each other by name. The town was originally founded by earth ponies, but members of all three pony races now live there. Public facilities in Ponyville include a large pavilion in the town square which also features a fountain, and a library which has become the residence of Twilight Sparkle – leaving its status in doubt, although the signs outside haven't changed. Businesses in Ponyville include the Sugarcube Corner confectionary; a restaurant, which the name isn't mentioned, with a very proper waiter pony; Rarity's custom dress shop, the Carousel Boutique; an herb shop operated by a pony called Daisy; a joke shop; and a bath/spa. Food carts also operate on the streets.

Butterfly Island: Butterfly Island is a faraway island located in the seas away from Ponyville. It's originally the home for all Pegasus Ponies in Generation 3, especially Star Catcher. The island can be accessed through the Rainbow Waterfall, if someone has a special wish.

Unicornia: Unicornia is a capital city located somewhere far away from Ponyville. The city is home to several Unicorn Ponies and magic is been essential in the capital. Several festivals in Unicornia include the Rainbow Celebration and the Night of the Thousand Lights. According to My Little Pony Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow, rainbows are created in Unicornia under the castle's Crystal Dome. In My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Unicornia is referenced during the Hearth's Warming Eve play as a name suggested by Platinum.

Equestria: The land of Equestria is the setting for the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The population consists largely of intelligent, talking animals, with ponies being the most prominent species. Equestria is co-ruled by two sisters, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, and is divided into several regions. Among these are the rural town of Ponyville; the Wild West-styled settlement of Appleloosa; the sky city of Cloudsdale, inhabited by pegasi; Manehattan, an urban metropolis; and Canterlot, the capital of Equestria and the site of Celestia and Luna's palace. Other areas mentioned in passing (but not depicted in any episode to date) are Trottingham, Hoofington, and Fillydelphia.

Not far from Ponyville is the Everfree Forest, a wildly overgrown area in which many strange creatures live. Although ponies control the weather and environment in the rest of Equestria, the laws of nature operate independently in this forest. As a result, many ponies are reluctant to venture into it. The two-part pilot episode reveals that the forest contains the ruins of a castle in which the Elements of Harmony are housed; they are subsequently moved to Canterlot for safekeeping. Whitetail Wood (a second, more hospitable forest), Froggy Bottom Bog (a swampy area that is home to many frogs), and Ghastly Gorge (a deep ravine filled with hazards) are also close to Ponyville.

Canterlot: Located high on a mountainside overlooking Ponyville, Canterlot is the capital city of Equestria, the residence of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna and the site of important cultural events such as the annual Grand Galloping Gala. Canterlot is also Twilight Sparkle's hometown. At the start of the series, she is living there as Princess Celestia's student. The city's annual pageant for Hearth's Warming Eve (a holiday that celebrates the founding of Equestria) draws the largest crowds of any such show in the land. Canterlot's population consists almost entirely of unicorns, and the seasons are changed with magic unlike in Ponyville.

Cloudsdale: Cloudsdale is the cloud city located in the skies above Ponyville, and is the hometown of Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash visits it in episode 16 Sonic Rainboom where she meets old acquaintances of hers from flight school. Unlike Ponyville, Cloudsdale is only home to pegasus ponies, as the whole city is made of clouds, which normally only pegasus ponies can walk on. Public facilities in Cloudsdale include the Cloudiseum and a weather factory.

Appleloosa: Appleloosa is a desert town located at the southwestern side of Equestria. Appleloosa is the hometown of Applejack's cousin, Braeburn, and was the main setting of episode 21 Over A Barrel, in which the townsponies and the buffalo were feuding over the land. Appleloosa is a typical Wild West town, complete with the typical buildings: a clock tower, a dance location, a saloon (which instead of serving alcohol serves salt), and a sheriff's house.
